The crucial Christmas buying period is upon us, and PS4's flagship title continues to be arrested by severe technical problems.

Developer Evolution continues to rollout what it describes as improvements and fixes, but gamers claim that key elements of its functionality remain broken. The studio itself admits that it still has some way to go before the game is repaired.

There are more servers coming online and there will be a significant server update to improve performance in the next 24 hours,” it said. We will also be running performance diagnostics around this update, but there shouldn't be much disruption or downtime.

This server update will improve online performance across the game and it also brings specific improvements for multiplayer racing and leaderboard updates.

More improvements will follow as we make progress on Sunday and Monday, but we still have more work to do to get everything back on track before we can give you any bigger or better news. We will keep you up to speed.”

Information regarding to PlayStation Plus Edition of the game is still completely absent.

Tomorrow it will have been three weeks since the game was released in the US.

With Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive reviewing very well this morning, Forza Horizon 2 already available and Halo: The Master Chief Collection arriving in two weeks, Microsoft's machine is looking pretty strong against Sony's at the moment. Will that be enough to swing the sales pendulum in its favour in the UK?
