Facebook brings in emerging content creators with ‘Level Up’ plus adds single destination page for streaming content - MCV
Social Network continues to build out its offering to content creators

Facebook continues to try and a build a bigger presence in livestreamed game content. Which started with the launch of its Gaming Creator Pilot Programme back in January. It’s now adding to that with its Level Up Program which is targeted at emerging gaming creators.

While such content can be discovered by users in the news feed or via groups or pages, it seems sensible (and somewhat overdue) to provide a single destination for everything. That page is now live at fb.gg – and while it’s no Twitch homepage, it’s a step in the right direction.

Meanwhile the new ‘Level Up’ program will provide creators with information on how best to grow their viewing figures, build their communities and earn money for their work. When it launches in the coming months Level Up members will be able to earn money in the same fashion as those on the Pilot Programme. The company will start sending out invitations to join in waves in the next few months.

Facebook is also testing fan support via monthly payments, with more partnered creators being added to that test shortly.

For more information on the Level Up Program head over to Facebook Gaming Creators, and to ask queries in person, the company will be talking about its plans at E3 next week.

John Imah, Gaming Creator Program Lead, said: “We'll showcase what we're working on as we strive to build the world's community for gamers. Our booth in South Hall (#2301) will bring all these efforts together under an updated visual brand identity for Facebook Gaming that unites the wide variety of gaming communities on Facebook. We'll continue to roll out this new look at future events and on additional Facebook gaming channels and platforms.”
