Ubisoft’s digital Far Cry 3 spinoff Blood Dragon has surpassed 1m units sold.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed the game’s milestone to Game Informer, and referred to it specifically as a mini-AAA” game.
Guillemot also hinted that, based on the strong results, the company is considering a retail version of the game.
"Maybe we’ll go retail at one point so we’ll be able to achieve a bit more,” he said.
Ubisoft and retailers in the meantime have capitalized by selling branded cards of Blood Dragon digital copies in stores. A sequel for the game has been discussed internally as well, but nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet.
Regardless, Guillemot made it clear that Ubisoft’s business model of developing and publishing branching franchise titles such as Blood Dragon and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger will continue moving forward.
