First hairdressing game inbound

Wii and DS owners will soon be able to get their hands on the first game to be made by a hairdresser.

Busy Scissors will be published in North America by new US publisher Little Orbit, with Namco Bandai Partners distributing the game in Europe this October.

Unlike the plethora of girls’ fashion titles available, this title is the first to be dedicated to hairdressing. More importantly, it is the first to be developed with the help of one of the sector’s leading firms.

Little Orbit has teamed up with popular hair care brand Redken, owned by the L’Oreal Group, to make Busy Scissors the most authentic game of its genre.

In an interesting twist, the game will also be sold via Redken’s US salons in addition to games retail.

Simulation games like Cooking Mama and Trauma Centre are the most popular games right now for Wii and DS,” said Little Orbit CEO Matthew Scott.

We’ve taken this genre to a whole new level with Busy Scissors by involving Hollywood’s top stylists and leading companies like Redken.

It’s a fun, creative game for young girls that is designed and approved by industry professionals, and honestly I think we’re going to see more video games in the future follow this path.”

Players must colour, cut, blow dry, shampoo and style their customers’ hair with either the Wii Remote or DS stylus – all while sticking to Redken’s high standards.

There are over 25 different hairstyles to master, all modelled after the glamorous looks the hair care specialist offers to its real-life customers.

The salon chain even demonstrated every technique to the developer so that each one could be recreated in-game.

Busy Scissors will hit Wii and DS in October.
