First Vine TV app heading to Xbox One

Xbox One users will soon be able to upload video clips to Vine.

It’s the first time the short-form video service has been adapted for a TV platform. The console’s Vine app will be able to both upload clips (via the Upload Studio) and view other Vine videos.

In total an additional 46 apps are coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360, including HBO Go, Comedy Central, MTV, Sky News, SyFy Now, WATCH Disney, NHL, NBA and VH1. This brings the total number of Xbox One apps to 225.

Among these is a new dedicated Twitter app which, amongst other things, will automatically pull in Tweets associated with whatever content is being viewed via Xbox One’s TV functionality at the time.

Xbox fans are spending more time than ever on the console, spending more than five hours a day on Xbox One,” Microsoft’s corporate VP of Devices and Studios Yusuf Mehdi said. Today as we announce new commitments from dozens of our partners, including deep integration with experiences like Twitter and Vine, we hit an important milestone in our journey to deliver unique experiences on Xbox.

We’re thrilled to break new ground in social TV experiences like we’re doing with Twitter on Xbox One.”
