Forza Horizon features dynamic 24-hour lighting, off-road racing

Microsoft has taken the lid of its upcoming Forza spin-off, with Forza Horizon taking the action racing route and signalling many first for the franchise. The game is set to hit stores on 23rd October, 2012 on Xbox 360.

Developed by Playground Games, Horizon will take place in Colorado, USA, and it will be the first game in the franchise to include a 24-hour dynamic lighting cycle, with night racing. It is also the first time that a Forza game will include off-road racing on dirt surfaces.

Unlike the pure simulation of Forza Motorsport, Horizon is about action racing, where’ you’ll be rewarded for driving in style. The game will include festival events, racing for pink slips, and, from the looks of it, freestyle stunt events.

While the latest press release mentions racing on an open road” several times, it is unclear if the game will feature an open world design. Horizon will use Forza Motorsport’s renowned physics engine and feature a diverse roster of licensed real-world cars.
