Playground Games job listings and employee resumes have suggested that the studio is working on a follow-up to its debut release, Forza Horizon.
While neither Microsoft nor Playground Games has confirmed that a sequel to the Xbox 360-excluisve open-world racer is in the works, studio director Gavin Raeburn and technical artist Yibo Liu have both mentioned on their Linkedin profiles that the studio is working on an Xbox One title.
Liu’s profile had previously mentioned that he was working on a next-gen Forza project”, as spotted by a NeoGAF member. This does hint towards Forza Horizon 2.
A look at developer’s website reveals several job listings for the new project. The description for the Car Handling Designer profile includes creating authentic, believable and fun vehicle handling for licensed cars”. It also goes on to call the project a genre-leading game”, once again hinting at the Forza franchise.
Forza Horizon released last year to a positive critical reception, with a current Metacritic average of 85.
It’s unlikely we’ll hear about the next Forza game until the release of Forza Motorsport 5, which will be an Xbox One launch title this year.
