GameCity 5 smashes attendance records

Consumer festival GameCity 5 drew 20,000 more attendees than last year's event.

The event in Nottingham – which ran from Wednesday, October 27th to Saturday, October 30th in conjunction with Nottingham Trent University – saw 45,000 people attend, up from last year's 25,000.

Consumers had the chance to play the latest triple-A and indie games, take part in experiential games, family gym sessions, late night LAN tournaments and visit a LEGO workshop.

GameCity director Iain Simons told MCV: We're delighted with the high attendance.

But more importantly it wasn't 45,000 hardened gamers who came through the event, but a steady stream of families, grans, kids, city workers and people discovering video games for the first time.

He added: One of our core targets is to work more closely with the industry to develop what we've created.”
