The deafening silence on GameStop’s intentions towards GAME continues, though one UK newspaper claims that an acquisition may be close.
Specifically, The Independent believes that GameStop is readying a move for GAME’s 291 Spanish and Portuguese stores.
It does not indicate that GAME’s 610 UK outlets would factor into the deal.
Indeed, GAME is known to be actively searching for a quick buyer for its 663 international stores.
However, MCV revealed last week that GameStop may be in line for a complete takeover of GAME Group, though it is understood that it does not wish to include GAME’s Australian operations as a part of the deal.
When pressed about the GameStop situation by MCV earlier this week, GAME stated that it does not comment on rumour or speculation.
