UPDATE: Zeschuk has confirmed his departure from the role of general manager at BioWare Austin, though he remains an employee at the studio he co-founded.
"With regard to BioWare Austin, I handed off the leadership of the studio to Matthew Bromberg quite some time ago (back in May),” he told Gamasutra. Ray Muzyka and I picked Matthew to take over and he’s been doing a great job with the studio.
"My time in Austin was always planned to have a finite endpoint (my family was still living in Edmonton throughout my time in Austin) and now that I’ve handed the baton to Matt, I will be able to spend more time on a wider range of BioWare games rather than focusing on just one as I did with SWTOR."
ORIGINAL STORY: The LinkedIn profile of BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk suggests that he is no longer the general manager of BioWare Autin.
The profile lists BioWare is listed as both a current and previous employer, while EA – which has owned BioWare since 2008 – is listed only as a previous employer.
Other reports suggest that Zeschuk has allegedly not been sighted at the studio for weeks” and that both he and BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka were present at a recent company meeting.
Indeed, Ray Muzyka has also changed his Twitter profile moving ER MD & software entrepreneur” ahead of Co-founder, Bioware”.
It is being suggested that Zeschuk has been replaced by former Major League Gaming CEO Matthew Bromberg and that the studio is to be rebranded as EA Austin
EA has told MCV that it is not commenting on this rumour.
