Ian Livingstone joins Sumo Digital

Developer Sumo Digital has appointed games industry legend Ian Livingstone CBE as a non-executive chairman.

That’s according to GI.biz, who says that Livingstone is one of two hires the LittleBigPlanet 3 and Forza Horizon 2 360 edition studio has made.

This the latest in a long list of executive position that Livingstone currently holds.

In addition to his role at Sumo, he is a non-executive director at Creative England and the Creative Industries Federation, as well as chairman at PlayMob, Midoki and Playdemic.

He departed Eidos, where he was ‘life president’ in 2013.

Sumo Digital’s second hire is Codemasters’ Kats Sato, who comes on board as as development director.

Sato is an industry veteran, having started out as a producer at Sega of Japan, before holding executive producer roles at Sega Europe, Sega of Japan, Atari and Codemasters.

"Livingstone’s experience will add tremendous value and will really help us to move forward with our strategic ambitions," CEO Carl Cavers said in a statement.

Sumo Digital performed a management buyout last year, becoming independent once again, with the help of NorthEdge Capital.
