Infinity Ward group sues Acti over MW3 demands

Past and present employees of troubled developer Infinity Ward have banded together to sue Activision Blizzard over the publisher’s demands for a third Modern Warfare 2.

Nearly 40 people have filed suit against the firm for $500m, alleging breach of contract and unpaid royalties, according to Kotaku.

According to the suit, Activision only paid the team 40 per cent of a promised Modern Warfare 2 bonus, withholding the rest. The company then demanded that Infinity Ward develop and finish Modern Warafre 3 by November 2011 to get the rest of the money.

The group of developers also claims Activision created a police state-like atmosphere”, submitting employees to secret interrogation and bringing in security personnel to man the office exits.

A separate suit was filed by former Infinity Ward bosses Vince Zampella and Jason West in March seeking unpaid royalties. A hearing will take place in front of a judge on August 5th to consolidate the two suits against Activision into one trial.
