iPad 2 pricing announced

Apple has finally confirmed its UK prices for the iPad 2 ahead of the device’s official UK launch this Friday (March 25th).

As was exclusively revealed by MCV’s sister site PCR this morning, the launch has been pushed back until 5pm on Friday thanks to a national shipping error.

Prices start at 399 for the basic 16GB Wi-Fi model. These then scale up to 479 (32GB) and 559 (64GB). Prices for the 3G-enabled model kick off at 499 (16GB), increasing to 579 (32GB) and 659 (64GB).

The Smart Cover will retail for 35, though the leather version carries a 59 premium.

The countries due to receive the machine this Friday are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

The tablet will be available in Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and additional countries in April, as well as several others in the coming months.

"While competitors are still struggling to catch up with our first iPad, we’ve changed the game again with iPad 2," Apple CEO Steve Jobs stated.

"We’re experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US, and customers around the world have told us they can’t wait to get their hands on it. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone."
