Apple has just announced the new iPad complete with a host of new features and goodies.
As rumored, the new iPad packs 'Retina Display', a new mobile chip, a significant camera upgrade, and more.
"The new iPad has a Retina Display. 2048x1536. The best mobile display that has ever shipped," Senior VP of worldwide marketingPhil Schiller explained at Apple's press event in San Francisco today.
That resolution boastsa pixel density of 264ppi, which means you can't distinguish individual pixels when held at 10 inches.
It also features the A5X mobile chip with a new quad-core graphics processor, which Apple claims is four times as fast as the Tegra 3.
"The Apple A5 was already twice as fast. This is a graphics powerhouse."
A new iSight camera has been included as well. It's the same as the camera built into the iPhone 4S which includes auto-exposure, auto-focus, and 5 megapixel backside-illuminated sensor with 1080p video — ahuge upgrade from the rest of the tablet market.
What is it all going to cost though?
The 16GB will go for $499, 32GB for $599, and 64GB for $699. 'The new iPad' (as it's constantly beingreferred to by Apple, as opposed to iPad 3) will arrive on March 16th, with pre-orders for the new device opening today.
