After lagging behind Microsoft's rejuvenated Xbox 360 for a
in the Japanese hardware charts, Sony's PS3 has finally reversed the tide by outpacing Microsoft's machine for the week ending November 2nd.
Media Create figures show that PS3 shifted a vastly improved 39,587 units last week, far ahead of Microsoft's 6,119 machines. Its success can be attributed to the bumper performances of Capcom's GTA IV and Sony's own LittleBigPlanet.
However, it was the newly released Nintendo DSi that wins out, with the machine selling 171,952 units in its first week on sale. PSP ranked second with still strong sales of 50,358.
Fourth was the Nintendo Wii, which shifted 23,123 units, with the now old-school DS Lite selling 16,360. The PS2 manages to push Xbox 360 into last position this week, selling 6,714 consoles.
