Japanese Vita hardware sales double following Persona 4: Dancing All Night launch

Sales of Sony’s Vita handheld shot up in Japan last week as Atlus’ Persona 4: Dancing All Night hit stores.

That’s according to data provided by Famitsu which says that hardware sales rose 107 per cent week-on-week, from 11,153 units to 23,119. And the Persona 4 dancing simulator spin-off debuted in second place, shifting 95,157 units.

But the Vita wasn’t the best-selling hardware – that title goes to Nintendo’s New 3DS XL, which outsells Sony’s handheld by a mere 186 units.

Sales of the New 3DS XL rose, too, due to the launch of Fire Emblem Fates: White Kingdom/Black Kingdom. The increase is not nearly as dramatic – only 32 per cent.

The aforementioned new Fire Emblem title sold 353,201 units to reach the No.1 spot, between the two SKUs – White Kingdom and Black Kingdom.
