John Lewis joins MCV Retail Advisory Board

Department store giant John Lewis is the latest firm to join MCV’s Retail Advisory Board.

Games buyer Robert Hennessy becomes the 19th member of the Board, which includes representatives from GAME, HMV, Asda, Tesco, Amazon, Play and GameStop.

The RAB is an elite group of the trade’s top games buyers, which was set up to keep MCV up-to-date on the latest happenings at the UK trade. The members of the board are also responsible for picking the winner of the Special Recognition accolade at the MCV Awards.

Hennessy joins as John Lewis prepares to ramp up its presence in video games. Last week the firm opened a dedicated Nintendo shop at its store in Oxford Street and started accepting pre-orders following a partnership with distributor Gem.

We offer something unique in John Lewis in the way we engage with the family unit,” said Hennessy. There will be a whole load of things that we do – and you will start to see more and more of – which will really signpost us as a different type of retailer in video games.”
