Ubisoft has said that its smartphone experiment with the Just Dance franchise has been a big success.

Free-to-play Just Dance Now has been downloaded over 6m times since its release on September 25th, and has been a particular hit in overseas territories such as India, Brazil and the Philippines.

The news comes shortly after Ubisoft announced an additional Just Dance app that is designed to compliment the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

The Just Dance Motion Controller app allows console owners without either a PlayStation Camera (and optional Move controller) or Kinect to play Just Dance 2015.

Those booting up the game without a camera attached to their console will be automatically prompted to download the app. To work a smartphone must be connected to the same wi-fi network as the console. The app is available on iOS and Android.

We've always strived to make Just Dance the most accessible dance game experience on the market,” executive producer Jason Altman said. With the Just Dance 2015 Motion Controller app, we're taking that dedication to accessibility to the next level by giving our fans a way to play Just Dance 2015 on PS4 and Xbox One by using their own smartphones to keep score.”
