PlayStation platform holder Sony has confirmed that the beta for what could be PS3’s biggest game of 2011 will only be available to those signed up to PSN+ – the premium subscription arm of the PSN network.
It was only a matter of time until a particularly juicy carrot like this was dangled in front of PS3 owners.
Previously early access to things such as the PES 2011 and RUSE demos was reserved for PSN+ users, but this Killzone 3 offer is likely to lure in plenty of new customers.
The beta, which will go live on October 25th, will only be available to the first 10,000 PAL PSN+ subscribers who download the Killzone 3 XMB theme from the PSN+ section of the PlayStation Store.
It will be available from October 14th.
Killzone 3 looks likely to be a commercial smash for Sony in 2011. As well as featuring the series’ trademark gritty sci-fi single player campaign it will also boast extensive online functionality and, for the first time in the series, stereoscopic 3D support.
