Kotick critical over lack of price cuts

One thing universally absent from this year’s E3 was any kind of hardware price cutting from any of the major platform holders – and that’s something that Activision Blizzard boss Bobby Kotick is not happy about.

I was disappointed not to see any sort of aggressive price cutting,” he told Bloomberg.

Of all the things that the hardware companies need to be doing right now, it’s recognising the difficulties of the economy and pricing their hardware appropriately.”

The only significant new hardware announcement of E3 was Sony’s PSPgo, and whilst a final launch price is not yet known indicators are pointing to a 230 price point – one that commentators on MCV’s story yesterday seemed to feel was very high.
