A line of fresh hidden object games can ignite the casual market on 3DS, says Licensed 4U.
The publisher has nine titles heading to the handheld in the first half of next year. It follows comments made by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime that mainstream-friendly titles can boost demand for the console.
Licensed 4U says the upcoming 29.99 hidden object and puzzle games – including Secret Mysteries in London and Jewel Quest 6: The Sapphire Dragon – are ideal for females and casual players.
Recently having met with a number of key supermarkets, it is apparent that the 3DS market really needs some good casual hidden object titles,” Licensed 4U MD Adam Prichard told MCV.
There's nothing intimidating about picking up a hidden object or a match-three title, and I think that's why it really appeals to the female gamer more than anything.
3DS is an ideal opportunity for publishers and retail to make a decent margin again by maintaining a 29.99 game price point.”
The call echoes comments from the boss of developer Cooking Mama Limited, Takeshi Nagashima, who recently told MCV that 3DS was in need of more kids and casual titles.
