Life is Strange dev Dontnod makes the first step towards going public

Life is Strange and Vampyr developer Dontnod is going public, the firm announced in a press release yesterday.

Dontnod registered with French stock market regulator AMF (Autorité des marchés financiers) on April 17th, which is the first step towards going public on the Euronext Growth stock exchange.

Founder and CEO Oskar Guilbert commented: “The global video games market, which already represented $109m in 2017, is going from strength to strength and we want to make the most of it. The original creations of our studio, developed by passionate and experienced collaborators, allowed us to attract the biggest publishers worldwide, and a very large audience. With this IPO project, we want to continue building this momentum.”

The announcement also detailed what the studio is currently working on: Vampyr, coming out on June 5th, the Life is Strange sequel (announced in May 2017), a narrative game for Bandai Namco (revealed exclusively by MCV at Gamescom last  year) and a fourth secret project that already has a name and a publisher. This lineup is planned across the next three years. Beyond this, the studio is working on two unannounced projects and is already talking to “top-tier publishers” to get them on the market.

In 2017, Dontnod had a turnover of €9.7m (£8.4m), the press release detailed, a 33 per cent growth compared to the previous year.
