MCV FOUNDER STUART DINSEY TO LEAVE INTENT MEDIA
Intent Media's founder and MD Stuart Dinsey will leave the firm at the end of October to pursue new opportunities.
Dinsey set up in Intent Media in 1998 to publish the leading games industry trade brand MCV.
Acquired by New York-based NewBay Media in December 2012, Intent's many brands include Music Week, MCV and Pro Sound News Europe. Its portfolio is mirrored by NewBay's strength across a similar range of markets in North America and Asia. NewBay's key brands include TWICE, Broadcasting & Cable, Guitar World, Systems Contractor News and TV Technology.
"Intent has an ambitious, globally-minded parent, serving today's colliding worlds of entertainment and tech. There is also an experienced and talented team in place that can take the brands on, across digital, print and events," said Dinsey.
"For me, after 15 years, it's simply time to hand over the baton. I will always love Intent Media, but now is a good time for me to explore new interests outside the company."
The company is actively recruiting a new Managing Director to lead Intent Media and NewBay Europe.
To support the company's continued growth, a series of appointments and promotions have been made, which are detailed below.

Further changes at Intent Media
Following Dinsey's departure, Michael French will take over the role of Publisher for the games division, which includes brands such as MCV, MCV Pacific, MCV India, Develop, Games Media Awards and The London Games Conference.
Similarly, Darrell Carter will take over as Publisher of MI Pro and Audio Pro International.
Chris Dring will take over as editor of MCV. Deputy editor James Batchelor is to become the editor of Develop at the start of October.
He will take over from Will Freeman, who is to take on a contributing editor role on Develop. Elsewhere, Craig Chapple has been promoted to deputy editor after two years as staff writer.
New roles for Lunch PR duo
The consumer and lifestyle agency has promoted Ian Dickson to account manager. He enters his third year at Lunch having risen through the firm after starting as an intern.
Dickson has extensive experience looking after titles for a number of leading games publishers including Capcom, Codemasters, Koch, New Star Soccer, Sega and Team 17. His new role will see Dickson work closer with the press and publishers alike in a much greater client-facing position.
I've loved working with the fantastic team at Lunch over the last two years, and I really look forward to continuing the great work we do here in my new role,” said Dickson.
Meanwhile, Colette Barr has been promoted to the role of PR executive. Barr joined Lunch in 2011 as an intern before taking on the role of account assistant in the following year.
In the new position, she will continue to play an increasingly active role on account work and liaising with clients including Bethesda, Team 17, Ripstone, Digital Extremes, Drinkbox Studios and Outplay Entertainment.

Distributor VIP Computers creates in-house PR team
The distributor has restructured its marketing department to form its own in-house PR team. Marketing executive Sarah Knowles will head the firm's PR, social media and press communications with immediate effect.
Knowles has held her position with VIP for over five years and has a vast background in the marketing field.
The distributor has also appointed Suzi Boswell to replace marketing executive Sophie Lewis. Within the role, Boswell will manage VIP's advertising and events.
Ballmer announces retirement as Microsoft CEO
Steve Ballmerhas announced his retirement from the electronics giant. He will stand down from his position as CEO within the next 12 months.
Ballmer will remain with Microsoft until a successor is chosen, a process which Ballmer himself will aid.
There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time,” said Ballmer.
We have embarked on a new strategy with a new organisation and we have an amazing senior leadership team. My original thoughts on time would have had my retirement happen in the middle of our company's transformation to a devices and services company. We need a CEO who will be here longer term for this new direction.”
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates added: We're fortunate to have Steve in his role until the new CEO assumes these duties.”
