Sam Forrest takes top PR role at Jagex
Former THQ PR chief Sam Forrest has joined online giant Jagex as director of PR.
Forrest spent nine years at THQ, leaving the firm earlier this year. He held a number of communication roles at the publisher, including head of PR for UK and Europe.
Prior to THQ, Forrest worked for SCi as consumer and trade communications manager and at Activision as UK PR manager.
In his new role Forrest will oversee Jagex's global PR activities, which will include the launch campaign for Transformers Universe.
The director of PR role is pivotal for us and Sam's wealth of knowledge and experience is just what we need as we embark on one of the most important periods of growth in Jagex's history,” said Jagex's chief marketing officer David Solari.
Forrest added: I look forward to the opportunity to expand Jagex's PR footprint out into wider Europe with the recruitment of leading PR agencies.”

Powles and Batenburg bolster Gem's creative and distribution teams
Former Intent Media production manager Suzanne Powles has joined Gem Creative as its production coordinator.
Powles will help develop and maintain the company's presence and will assist with POS creation for retailers and publishers.
Suzanne is an experienced project and production manager, said head of marketing Katie Rawlings. I'm thrilled to have her on board. As we steam roll towards peak, it's vital we have her expertise to ensure we maintain our second to none service levels.”
Powles joined Intent Media in 2002 and worked on its business publications MCV, PCR and ToyNews as well as trade events including London Games Conference, PCR Bootcamp and a host of award ceremonies.
Rene Batenburg also joins Gem Distribution's national accounts team as its national sales manager.
Sales director Neil Willerton said: I'm delighted with the appointment of Rene, he brings with him a wealth of experience from his time at Trust.
Rene will be responsible for the national accounts and grocery teams utilising his contacts and experience to develop a one stop shop solution for our partners.”
Oliver joins Sega as new PR manager
Peter Oliver has joined Sega as the company's new PR manager.
Oliver will work with specialist media in the UK while supporting select territories in Europe across a range of products.
Pete has a fantastic reputation within the industry,” said senior international PR manager STEFAN MCGARRY.
Oliver previously spent two years working as a PR executive at Namco Bandai and five years at PR agency Indigo Pearl as an account manager.
UPAD hires Duncan
Alan Duncan has joined lettings specialist UPAD as its new head of marketing.
Duncan will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of communications at Upad.
I am thrilled to be joining the team at Upad,” said Duncan. The idea that landlords are better at conducting property viewings than estate agents is essentially what Upad is built on. My job is to extol the virtues of self-service online lettings through strategic planning and innovative thinking.”
Duncan previously worked at Sony Computer Entertainment UK as its marketing director. He was at Sony for over seven years.

IGN has created two new roles for its long-serving team members.
