MCV signs off for Christmas – have a great holiday and Happy New Year!

To say 2016 was an eventful year would be a huge understatement. If Brexit, the US presidential elections and the disheartening November game sales figures didn’t paint a bleak enough picture, then the closure of iconic studios such as Lionhead and the shuttering of several Crytek outfits have certainly left us in a poorer state than we were this time last year.

Things are, hopefully, on the up, though, as 2017 already has plenty lined up to shake off the gloom of the past twelve months.

Just as everyone’s settling back into their New Year routine, Nintendo will be giving us a full rundown of its brand-new Switch console on January 13th, and we’ll be there bright and early to bring you all the latest news as it’s announced. The launch of Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 follows shortly after at the end of the month, and before we know it, it will be GDC and, of course, the MCV Awards(make sure you get your applications in by January 6th if you want to enter!).

There’s also The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to look forward to, as well as PS4 exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn, and we’ll all be strapping on our space boots come spring time for Mass Effect Andromeda.

So fear not, games industry. There’s still a light at the end of the tunnel. And with that, MCV is signing off for Christmas. Thanks to everyone for their support and hard work over the course of this year – the website and magazine wouldn’t have been possible without you.

We also have big plans for MCV in 2017. The MCV brand will be completely revamped by the time we return from the Christmas break, with a new-look magazine, new sections, a new layout and much, much more. We’ll also be expanding our online content, launching a refreshed daily newsletter, reaching out more regularly via social media and putting on our best events yet.

So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We’ll see you all again in January.
