The first game in the Dragon Age series (2009's Dragon Age: Origins) was so popular that at the time it eclipsed even the iconic Mass Effect series in sales, shifting more than 3.2 million units.
The role-playing franchise returned in 2011 for Dragon Age II which, although successful commercially and critically, was a bit of a disappointment for fans.
EA and BioWare have now worked alongside the game's fanbase to make sure the third game – Dragon Age: Inquisition – does not disappoint. According to the critics at least, they've managed it. The game's Metacritic score on PS4 currently sits at 89.
Writing about the game in its review, IGN said that Inquisition is one of the few RPGs that successfully fills its gorgeous, massive world with meaningful things to do and see.”
And as one of just a handful of RPG games released this year, Dragon Age has a festive period pretty much all to itself.
