Microsoft issues apology for failing to pay XBLIG devs on schedule

Microsoft has publicly apologized for missing scheduled payments to Xbox Live Indie Game developers.

A statement posted to the ID@Xbox Twitter account explains the delay was the result of "a technical issue in our payment system,” but wouldn’t delve in any further than that.

"[It’s] an unfortunate error and we are working hard to fix it.” the statement reads. We apologize for this incident and anticipate developers will receive payments within the next two weeks.”

The ID@Xbox team added that the payment issue applies specifically to Xbox Live Indie Games developers on Xbox 360, and does not pertain to Xbox One developers in the ID@Xbox program.

According to Polygon, developers with games on the Xbox 360 channel began noting on Twitter last month that Microsoft had failed to deliver payments for sales garnered during the most recently concluded quarterly period.

Microsoft was supposed to send out payments within 45 days of the end of the third quarter of the calender year on September 30th – meaning the company is over two weeks late with payment.
