Molyneux’s next game will be his last… probably

One of the UK’s most beloved developers could be nearing his exit from the industry.

Peter Molyneux, whose most recent release Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube? has been all over the headlines this week. But if comments in a recent interview are to be believed, his next game could be his last.

I’m only going to make one more game, I think,” he told BeefJack. And that thought – the thought of every ounce of my energy, every ounce of my experience, every mistake that I’ve made in every single game – if I can learn from that, and use that energy to make one game… that’s what I’m trying to do.”

This last game will come after 22Cans’ series of experiments, the first of which is Curiosity and the second of which is called Co-Operation. But in typical Molyneux fashion, he’s yet to thrash out the final details.

Could I sit down and describe it to you in full at the moment? No, I can’t,” he added. But that is my thought. We’re going to make a game, we’re going to learn what it is to make a game in today’s world, and it’s going to be the defining game of my career.”

But, y’know, this is Peter Molyneux talking. And it’s hard to iamgine him staying away from games for long, even if he does decide to walk away.

Peter also teased another huge announcement” that is apparently due today (Friday November 9th).
