More Sony tablet rumours

The oft-rumoured but as yet unconfirmed Sony tablet device known as the S1 is now said to be a PlayStation Certified Android 3.0 device ready for shipping in the US by September 2011.

According to sources at Engaget, the touchscreen device will cost around $599 (370) for a Wi-Fi only model, and the VAIO team are looking to link it up with the Qriocity steaming service and PlayStation Suite.

Other suggested features include Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor, a Honeycomb interface, a 9.4-inch display, a 1280 x 800 resolution screen and a ‘wrap around’ design.

The S1 has been an object of speculation since Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer confirmed that the firm was working on an Android powered tablet set for a summer 2011 release.
