Lunar Studios has ditched plans to bring its upcoming space adventure title Routine to Oculus Rift due to the extreme” motion sickness caused by play testing the game.
The developer posted the news in a status update on the game's Steam community page – explaining that while the game is still moving along through development, Oculus Rift support has been abandoned for the time being.
We are all extremely excited about VR because we believe it brings unparalleled immersion and that is something we would love to be a part of,” the post reads. However at the moment we have had to slow down our VR integration as we all get extremely motion sick with the current kits.”
We will take another look at implementing VR closer to release but for now we can't fully commit to a VR version of Routine.”
Routine was originally Greenlit for a 2013 Windows PC release on Steam, but was later delayed due to workload issues – Lunar currently has just four employees on board to develop the game.
