The National Association of Software and Services Companies has pledged its support for the launch of MCV India, the country's first publication focusing on local trade and game development.

NASSCOM is India's premier trade body and chamber of commerce for the IT industry, and the NASSCOM Gaming Forum was set up six years ago to provide a common platform to share best practices and knowledge to developers and businesses within the Indian gaming industry, especially the burgeoning indie game dev community.

The NASSCOM Gaming Forum's advisory council, chaired by Dhruva Interactive's Rajesh Rao, comprises of representatives from India's top gaming companies, including UTV Indiagames, Lakshya Digital, Zynga India, Griptonite India and Ibibo. The Forum is also supported by several other Indian developers, such as Digital Chocolate, Playdom, Zapak, Jump Games and 99 Games.

The Gaming Forum has five active city chapters – Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Bangalore - each of which regularly hosts developer meet-ups. It also organizes the annual NASSCOM Game Developers Conference, which from a humble beginning in 2009 with just 150 attendees, grew to 300 visitors in 2010 and 700 visitors in 2011.

India is now considered the next big market for the games industry, with 600 million youth below the age of 25, mobile penetration at 900 million, and a rapidly growing middle class that is increasing its spending on entertainment like never before. The Indian gaming ecosystem is fast growing, with over 120 game companies in India, up from just 25 in 2010,” said Rajesh Rao, chairperson of the NASSCOM Gaming Forum and CEO of Dhruva Interactive, one of India's oldest game companies.

In these exciting times, it's great to see a respected publication such as MCV launch its India edition, and we at NASSCOM Gaming Forum are happy to support it,” Rao added.

MCV India is an online resource for news and information from all spheres of the Indian gaming industry, with content that is relevant to developers, retailers, distributors, publishers and service companies. In addition, MCV India will also focus strongly on consumers, delivering local and global content that is relevant to the Indian gamer.
