The video production firm behind Red vs Blue and Achievement Hunter will next week release a new documentary looking at the popularity of Let's Play videos.

As well as looking back at the all-around success of the Let's Play format, which sees a group of video creators play games while commentating over the top, Rooster Teeth's Let's Play Live: The Documentary will also follow the outlet's own Achievement Hunter division as it attempts to host a live ‘first-of-its-kind' play-through of an online game.

Achievement Hunter's Let's Play YouTube videos, which were launched in 2011, three years after the main site's creation, are often cited as one of the most successful examples of the Let's Play format, which has been further popularised by online video celebrities such as PewDiePie and The Yogscast.

Let's Play Live: The Documentary will be released next Monday, September 14th, for sponsors of Rooster Teeth's website.
