New Facebook tweaks to boost games

Facebook has added new features to its interface to get more people discovering and playing its social and browser games.

The gaming activity of users’ friends are now combined into one list that appears in the news feed, listing the titles that people have been playing. This has also been introduced to cut down on the number of games requests that spam users’ feeds, according to Gamasutra.

"These stories are designed to bring new users and significant re-engagement to games by encouraging users to discover games their friends are playing," said Matt Wyndowe, Facebook’s business development director.

"We will continue to refine the design of these stories based on performance."

Facebook has also announced it will soon begin shutting down app profile pages and allowing users to highlight their favourite games, achievements and other game-related items in their Timelines.

A new link to outstanding games requests will appear in the top right corner of the the home page. This is "designed to drive more traffic to games and apps".
