New Ridge Racer heading to PS3 and 360

A new Ridge Racer game is heading to next-gen platforms, Namco Bandai has revealed.

The latest in the hit arcade series – entitled Ridge Racer: Unbounded – was unveiled in San Francisco at the publisher’s Ignite event. It is due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

An action-packed teaser trailer was shown, featuring crashes and street racing. According to Namco Bandai, it will show what Reiko Nagase – Ridge Racer’s female star – ‘gets up to at the weekend.’

The title is being developed by Finnish studio Bugbear, developers of the FlatOut series. It’s the first console Ridge Racer since 2007’s Ridge Racer 7, which was a PS3 exclusive.

No other details were revealed about the game, although Namco Bandai’s US VP Carlson Choi promised more details in the coming weeks.

It’s not the only Ridge Racer announced at the event either. Namco Bandai revealed iPad title Ridge Racer HD, while the upcoming 3DS title was also on display.
