Nintendo has quietly announced a new controller for the Wii on its Japanese site called the Classic Controller Pro.
On the face of it the device appears to be a standard Classic Controller with some sort of additional housing on the back, but the shift of the secondary shoulder button to the rear of the device, a la the Sony DualShock, shows that the device is indeed brand new.
With no official statement yet offered, speculation is rife as to what purpose the new joypad could serve. The Classic Controller is fondly regarded by gamers, but the more familiar layout of this new model could indicate an influx of new 3D games on Nintendo's Virtual Console service.
Could this mean that downloadable GameCube games are on the way?
