Nintendo denies DS Lite solus phase out

Leading platform holder Nintendo has told MCV that it is not planning to phase out solus DS Lite packs from retail, though it has said that it is upping the supply of DS Lite hardware bundles.

Sources this morning claimed that solus packs were to vanish from UK retail in the coming weeks”, with bundles including Brain Training, Nintendogs and Big Brain Academy taking their place.

However, a Nintendo UK spokesperson told MCV this morning: We will be increasing the availability of DS Lite bundles with software in the UK. However, solus will still continue to be listed.

We have chosen to do this as we have found many consumers like the convenience of buying software and hardware together and also enjoy buying them as gifts.”

Nintendo yesterday confirmed that it is upping the trade price of its Wii console, though added that it has no immediate plans to do the same with the DS Lite.
