Nintendo reveals the Switch

After months of waiting and rumours Nintendo has finally revealed the NX, which is now known as the Nintendo Switch.

The three minute video showed off the new console, revealing that it is indeed a cross between a home console and a hand held device. A tablet like device can be slotted into a base station in order to play on the big screen, or it can be removed and played as a portable device.

The controller can be taken apart and used freely like a Wii mote, or attachedto the side of the tablet kind of like the Wii U. When playing on the TV the controller comes back together to form a more traditional style game pad.

The device also has a kick stand, meaning you can easily prop it up to play games on any surface, and appears to use cartridges instead of disks. It also has a 3.5mm headphone port, which is always useful.

We also got to see some titles running on the Switch, including what appeared to be NBA 2K17, Skyrim Remastered and Mario Kart.

The NX is slated for release in March 2017, although no specific date was given. What we do know however is that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be launching on both the Wii U and NX next year.
