Just hours after revealing that a motion controlled version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will be heading to PS3 but not Xbox 360, EA has now announced that EA Sports Active 2 will also be snubbing the motion control bandwagon on Xbox 360.
The game will come bundled with a complete wireless control system including new leg and arm sensors, as well as a heart rate monitor. Also new is an online hub to track and share personal workout data.
Interestingly, it seems that this second game will not utilise Wii's own Remote or Nunchuck, instead preferring its own motion tech. DLC has also been confirmed for the PS3 version.
Just as interesting as the omission of Xbox 360 from the supported formats list is the inclusion of iPhone and iPod touch. EA has been making big strides in the iPhone gaming space and this new cross-platform strategy could ideally suit EA Sports Active 2's cosmopolitan mass-market audience.
The launch of EA Sports Active 2.0 will define a new era of interactive fitness with the use of innovative motion sensor peripherals and a heart rate monitor that provide users with a fitness experience delivering real, measurable results,” executive producer Tarrnie Williams stated.
As the number one rated fitness program for the Wii, EA Sports Active proved itself as the industry leader and provided the foundation for our fitness franchise. The success stories we've received from our users show that EA Sports Active is changing lives and we're so proud to be part of it.”
A release date has not yet been announced.
