NPD: Modern Warfare breaks new record

Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has now officially cemented its position as the second best selling game of all time in the US, NPD has confirmed, with only Nintendo’s Wii Play shifting more copies.

The game claimed the exact same record in the UK last month.

However, just hours after one analyst called the Battlefield franchise a potential Modern Warfare killer”, EA’s title posted a record-breaking performance of its own.

In its first month of sales in the US, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 bested the launch of Battlefield: Bad Company by +170 per cent,” Anita Frazier, analyst for NPD, noted.

Even considering that the first was launched later in its introduction month while BC2 enjoyed nearly a full month of sales, the increase is impressive.”
