PCGamesN has appointed two new deputy editors: Ben Maxwell (pictured left) from Future Publishing's Edge magazine, and Julian Benson (pictured right), also of Future Publishing, from Kotaku UK.
Benson and Maxwell will be replacing existingdeputy editor Phil Iwaniuk, who is departing the publication to pursue an MA.Maxwell will be joining the site starting on June 8th, with Benson following on June 21st.
At the moment, Maxwell works asfeatures editor on Edge, where he's worked since 2010. Benson, meanwhile, will be returning to PCGamesN after a two-year stint at Kotaku UK as news editor. Earlier this week, PCGamesN also hired a brand new production editor in the form of Chris Priestman, who was previously web editor at Killscreen.
Editorial director Joel Gregory commented:"I'm very excited to be welcoming Julian back and bringing Ben on board. They both come with great reputations in the industry and track records for high-quality work. Their hires are a reflection both of the recent success of PCGamesN, and the scale of our ambitions moving forward. Also two deputies means I'm one step closer to my Don Draper fantasy of drinking gin and taking naps all day."
Benson added: "I'm delighted to return to PCGamesN, despite the site spreading the rumour that I had died. Since I left in 2015 the staff and site have both grown hugely (we all hope that my leaving and the site's explosion in growth are unrelated)."
Maxwell stated: "Rather than tackle the 4,000 unread emails I've amassed over seven wonderful years writing for Edge, I have decided it would be much easier to change jobs and start a fresh inbox. I am, as you can imagine, extremely excited about this fresh start... and the opportunity to join the exceptional team at PCGN and help to continue the site's remarkable success."
