Piracy hits Killzone 3, Crysis 2

Sony’s recent struggles with PS3 piracy have lead to a troubling development – Killzone 3 has been leaked onto torrent sites ahead of its release on February 25th.

And it’s not the only title to succumb to pirates either. EA’s Crysis 2, which isn’t due to hit UK retail shelves until March 25th, has also made a shock appearance online.

"Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on torrent sites," the developer said on its blog.

"Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22nd."

The leaked Killzone 3 file is of the European SKU. It contains both the standard and 3D version of the game and weighs in at an eye-watering 41+GB.

Leaks ahead of the release of key titles are nothing new, but for Sony will prove a fresh headache as until recently its machine had proved admirably resilient to hackers.
