PlayStation Mobile Developer Program expands to India in May

Sony has announced that India will be among 12 countries to be included in the PlayStation Mobile Developer Program starting May.

The PSM Developer Program is aimed at providing support to developers creating dedicated content for PlayStation Mobile, and will be extended to India starting 29th May.

Sony made the announcement the day it announced the public preview of Unity for PlayStation Mobile, an integrated solution from Unity Technologies, optimised for creation of PSM content for PlayStation Vita. The full official version of Unity for PSM is expected to be ready by mid-2014.

Developers that already own licenses for Unity or Unity Pro will be able to create PSM content without having to pay any extra charges.

India is also one of four new countries which will receive PSM content for PS Vita via the PlayStation Store. This service extends to India, along with Austria, Poland and Switzerland, starting 25th June.

India’s inclusion into the PSM Developer Program comes at a great time for Sony, having recently overtaken Apple to become the second biggest smartphone brand in India in terms of value share.
