PlayStation Vue internet TV service soft launches this month

Sony’s internet-based TV service PlayStation Vue will soft launch later this month in North America.

A Wall Street Journal interview with Sony’s Andrew House reveals the service will transition from beta to full commercial starting in Chicago, New York City and Philadelphia. Vue will contain over 75 channels upon launch.

House added that Sony’s goal is to roll out Vue nationwide by the end of 2015. The company eventually plans to open up the service to third-party platforms such as iPad as well, following the initial release period on PlayStation hardware.

PlayStation Vue runs on PS3 and PS4 consoles, allowing users to watch live or on-demand television programs without the requirement of a cable subscription.
