PS3 Battlefield 4 to include next-gen PS4 upgrade code in the box

Some copies of Battlefield 4 on the PS3 will include a code inside that entitles the owner to a digital PS4 copy of the game for just 10.

Inside marked physical copies of Battlefield 4 for PlayStation 3 there will be a voucher with a unique code printed on it,” the PlayStation Europe forum confirmed. This code will allow you the one-time offer of buying a digital version of Battlefield 4 via the PlayStation Store for only 10.”

The statement suggests that only copies marked up as including the code will do so – presumably the promotion will be scrapped shortly after the release of PS4.

There will be plenty of next-gen upgrade options for those wanting to buy into the likes of Battlefield 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, FIFA 14 and Assassin’s Creed IV upon release but then later upgrade to PS4 or Xbox One.

Sony has already detailed a digital upgrade strategy for the UK while GAME is offering a physical upgrade program.

Microsoft has announced a similar scheme for the US and is expected to do so for the UK, although it has not yet been detailed.
