PS4: Sony to price first-party games at Rs 3,999

PS4 games published by Sony will be priced at Rs 3,999 in India.

PlayStation India head Atindriya Bose confirmed the pricing to MCV at the Gran Turismo 6 launch event in Mumbai earlier today.

First-party game pricing is significant as several third-party publishers tend to take their pricing cues from Sony. So we can assume that PS4 games from other publishers would also follow similar pricing in India.

There will, however, be exceptions. Sony’s PS4 prices, while higher than their PS3 prices, are still lower than the price of EA’s PS4 games, which will sell for Rs 4,499 each in India.

Interestingly, first-party PS4 games likes Killzone Shadow Fall and Knack are priced at Rs 3,499 on PSN; Rs 500 lower than retail price.

PS4 games from Ubisoft, Warner Bros and 2K will release in India this month, and distributor E-xpress Interactive is likely to announce prices for them next week.

Meanwhile, Sony is set to finally reveal its PS4 launch plans for India in mid-December.
