The PlayStation 4 will launch in Japan and North America this year, but in Europe (and consequently, India) in 2014, a new report has suggested.

Sources close to the development of the new Playstation and Xbox consoles have told Edge that the complexities involved in European distribution are to blame for the delayed release there.

This isn't the first time that Europe has got the raw end of the deal. The PS3 was launched in Japan and America in November 2006, but only arrived in Europe in March 2007, and a month later in India.

The Edge report also seems to confirm rumours that the PS4 will feature a new controller design, one which features a PS Vita-like trackpad where the PS, Start and Select buttons earlier resided.

The controller is also said to include a share button, which will allow players to share screenshots and gameplay videos. The report further states that the PS4 will constantly save the last 15 minutes of gameplay to enable sharing.

Sony is set to hold an event on 20th February, where it is widely expected to unveil the PlayStation 4.
