Publishers back Kapow Comic Con

Several big name game publishers will be showcasing their products at the Kapow Comic Con in London this month.

Nintendo, Ubisoft and Codemasters are backing the IGN Arena during the comic book, film and game consumer event. It runs from Saturday, April 9th to Sunday, 10th at the Islington Design Centre.

THQ, Warner Bros, Disney and Namco Bandai will also provide playable game code for the IGN Arcade area.

More than 10,000 attendees will be able to play the latest Nintendo 3DS games as well as Codies’ Operation Flashpoint: Red River and Dirt 3. Other playable titles include Disney’s Cars 2.

Game design veteran Tetsuya Mizuguchi will also take part in a signing session to promote Ubisoft’s musical shooter Kinect game Child of Eden. He is also the creator of the title’s much-loved predecessor Rez.

A Guiness World Record attempt for the fastest production of a comic book will take place, with guests including comic book veterans Mark Millar, Dave Gibbons and John Romita Jr.

Event goers will also be able to view exclusive footage of Attack of the Block and other films from Optimum Releasing.

Kapow ambassador Mark Millar said: Our grand plan was to bring together the biggest names in all media and it is a pleasure to see the publishers, studios and TV companies getting so excited about this too.

We have really hit the ground running and I cannot wait to see what the Kapow team have in store to make the show even bigger next year.”

IGN previously announced it is the platinum sponsor for the event. The site will provide news and announcements from the event on its IGN Kapow microsite.
