PvZ: Garden Warfare strictly multiplayer, will carry mid-tier price

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will be a multiplayer only affair, a fact EA states will allow the publisher to sell it at a lower price online and at retail.

Speaking with Shacknews, creative director Justin Wiebe confirmed that the FPS-take on PopCap’s tower defense franchise will be multiplayer only.

The title will run at the mid-tier prices of $39.99 on the Xbox One, and $29.99 on PC and Xbox 360 – with Microsoft’s upcoming console costing more due to the inclusion of exclusive content.

"PopCap’s had really good success around lower to mid-tier priced games," Wiebe said. So, when Garden Warfare debuts on Xbox One, it will be $39.99 as both a retail and downloadable title. The Xbox 360 and PC versions will be even more affordable, retailing for $29.99.”

Developer EA Canada plans to follow a post-launch model similar to Plants vs Zombies 2, adding new content updates and DLC to keep the title’s community active and coming back for more.

"We definitely want to build on the game once it’s launched. We’re definitely taking a cue from Plants vs Zombies 2. Using DLC and new content updates, we want to keep players engaged in the long haul."

The Frostbite-powered shooter is due out next year.
