Ratchet & Clank: Nexus announced for PS3 digital release this year

Out of nowhere, Insomniac Games has announced a new Ratchet & Clank game. It’s coming to PS3, and it’s coming this year.

You’d think that with Insomniac working on a new exclusive IP with Microsoft for the Xbox One – Sunset Overdrive, its relationship with Sony would be put on ice for a bit. Well, you’d be wrong.

Ratchet & Clank: Nexus will act as an epilogue to the Ratchet & Clank Future series of games, and after dabbling in multiplayer with All 4 One and QForce, the new game is a single-player experience returning to Ratchet’s story arc.

Gravity is one of the game’s central themes, with levels set in zero-G space, with new, gravity-defying weapons and gadgets, and with Clank puzzles that task the player with manipulating gravity.

Into the Nexus will be a digital release, but Insomniac insists that it is far bigger in size and scope than prior digital Ratchet releases, Quest for Booty and QForce.

Ratchet & Clank: Nexus is headed for a holiday season release. Check out the announce trailer.
