RE5: Alternate Edition will be DLC

The Alternative Edition of Resident Evil 5 will be heading to PSN and Xbox Live Marketplace as DLC.

Capcom has confirmed it has opted against a boxed product version following the results of its recent poll. Over 1500 participants voted for the content to be released as a digital download, compared to 900 who requested a physical edition.

The publisher also hinted that more content will be included with the Alternate Edition, but refused to give details.

The Alternate Edition, also known as the Director’s Cut, is revamped edition of Resident Evil 5 announced at this year’s Tokyo Games Show.

It will feature additional playable sequences, including one set in the original Resident Evil mansion, and support for Sony’s Motion Controller on PS3.
